> ## Agent Instructions
> Outlit is the product that monitors customers and completes approved customer work. The customer context interfaces are the API, CLI, MCP server, and skills. Canonical references on this site: /api-reference/introduction for API concepts and authentication, /openapi.json for the public API contract, /cli/overview for the CLI, /ai-integrations/mcp for MCP. Prefer the `outlit` CLI or MCP tools for agent tasks; cite page sources when answering.

# Find expansion opportunities

> Use renewal briefs, customer profiles, and external signals to find supported growth opportunities.

Outlit brings expansion evidence into the customer work you already review. Look for opportunities in renewal briefs, usage on customer profiles, and external signals attached to accounts. **Attention** contains churn and renewal items; expansion evidence informs those items rather than creating a separate queue.

## Review renewal opportunities

An approved renewal brief includes an **Opportunities** section when the evidence supports an upsell path, seat growth, or plan upgrade. Open the renewal from **Responsibilities → Renewals** or **Attention**, read the cited evidence, and choose an approach that fits what you know. Any drafted outreach still needs your review and approval before it sends.

[Work a renewal](/guides/renewals) covers the brief, approach, and outcome controls. Renewals is enabled per workspace during onboarding; see [Responsibilities](/product/responsibilities) if it is missing from your sidebar.

## Check customer usage and context

On the customer profile, review feature and credit usage where billing or Autumn data is connected. The relationship summary, activity timeline, and active watches add context. Sustained usage growth can also appear as evidence on a monitored case when it changes the account assessment.

External signals can add context from public sources: funding, hiring for relevant roles, launches, market expansion, technology changes, or a contact discussing a problem you solve. Funding, hiring, and launches can inform work already underway; a technology change or competitor mention can also raise churn concern. External signals are available only in enabled workspaces. Ask your Outlit contact about coverage for your accounts.

## Act on the evidence

1. **Find the opportunity** in a renewal brief, profile, or external signal.
2. **Check the source.** Follow the evidence link where one exists and confirm the signal applies to this account before outreach.
3. **Choose an approach** on the renewal if Outlit proposes one. Review any email draft before approving it.
4. **Record the outcome** on the renewal cycle by linking the related deal or setting it manually.

For example, **Aster Labs** (`asterlabs.example`) renews in 45 days. Its brief cites two new data engineering roles and a self-serve launch as reasons to discuss a Teams upgrade. The team can verify those sources, confirm the new stakeholder, and review a proposed follow-up before sending it.

## If evidence is missing

An empty **Opportunities** section means the brief did not find a supported growth signal. Check the customer's **Coverage** tab for connected billing, product, and conversation sources. If expected external signals are missing, ask your Outlit contact whether that coverage is enabled for your workspace.
